Where business and technology collide
We continue to discuss Microsoft’s SharePoint in this 4 part series, and whether SharePoint 2007 is a friend or foe of the independent dealer. In our last post, we discussed some of what’s under the hood in SharePoint, briefly.

Why I state that is because if it doesn't move out of the intranet, there's not much value. Sharepoint needs to be able to talk to users within the supply chain or partnering companies needing to have access to marketing information.
Simple analogy would be IBM and it's partners that needs to tap onto their marketing collaterals, technical specifications of their servers.

So I have no insight specifically for you. On the note of SharePoint as an EDM, it is not good. We utilize it as an intranet site, which it works very well at - in general. However, we have our own EDM that we use. I think I spell that out fairly clearly in this article, but perhaps since this writing, Microsoft has made no bones about the fact that they are going to be gunning for EDM vendors. The space is going to get very tight, but if you want a lot of informative articles I would suggest looking into AIIM's magazine, Infonomics.
If you have any other questions, don't hesitate to drop me a line.
Warmest Regards,
K
