Had some time and added my two cents to some of the great posts.

As for crusades, the only one that is not du jour is the crusade to fix bottom of the pyramid high schools with print + web.

I moved the feed up to the top of Google reader, so I'll be back :)

Re: It starts at the top (by Corey Smith)

Ah, crusade du jour, right Michael? ;-) I have been with a few companies that go down this road, and you are right it tends to crash and burn. I think the idea here is to elicit ground level intel, while ensuring the push comes from the top. I have a saying, "Management goals that start in the clouds often don't stand the scrutiny of the sun."

Re: It starts at the top (by Corey Smith)

I think the trick is that any change has to make life easier, not more complicated.

ROI, long term goals, etc etc are good to justify behavior, but the drive to easy is what changes behavior. If it doesn't make it easier, no one is going to make it happen. Even if it has the total support of everybody at the top. Big bright ideas by the folks at the top have a long distinguished record of crashing and burning.

Re: It starts at the top (by Corey Smith)

IT departments must be responsible
